MONTICELLO - The Southwestern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission is working with the Village of Monticello to update its 2005 Comprehensive Plan.

The update will provide the village with a single vision to unite decision-making and coordinate city resources and services through 2025. This process is supported by the efforts of the Village of Monticello, Green County Development Corporation, and University of Wisconsin Extension.

This comprehensive planning process will launch with vision boards and a visioning event. Vision boards will be located at the Monticello Library and the Monticello School District from Monday through Nov. 30. This visioning exercise will encourage residents of Monticello to imagine their ideal 2025 Monticello. The responses from the public will directly impact the planning process and implementation of the plan. The visioning event is scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Monticello School District.

The plan process will feature four community meetings, focusing on aspects of daily life in Monticello. These meetings begin in January and will continue through the end of March. The meetings include: community resources (natural and agricultural resources, parks and recreation, education, culture and creativity); Infrastructure (housing, transportation, waste management, utilities and public safety); economic development; and land and implementation.

Any Monticello resident interested in attending the visioning event or any of the topic areas are encouraged to contribute.
