MONTICELLO - Currently, 10 students who are part of the Monticello Spanish Club are selling Pizza Hut buffet tickets and coupon books to raise funds for an educational trip to Costa Rica.
The benefit is set for 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the Pizza Hut in Monroe.
Their first trip abroad in many years, the students are headed for an eight-day adventure to experience another language and culture first-hand.
Students will volunteer at a local school or orphanage, learn to dance the salsa, and cook a traditional Costa Rican meal. They will also travel through and do a zip line over the canopy of the rain forest, see Costa Rica's most active volcano at sunset, swim in hot springs, visit a pineapple plantation, learn how coffee is made; and much more.
For every person who attends the event, Pizza Hut will donate a percentage of the profits toward students' trips. And for those who can't attend, students will be selling coupon books until Nov. 19.
