On Thursday, May 15, the Monticello School Board:
Approved a contract with Stalker Flooring of New London to wet screen the floor in the new gym and apply two coats of finish. The work is scheduled for this summer.
Discussed publishing requests for proposals for 43 computers in the district. The district plans to install the computers this summer in conjunction with other upgrades already approved by the board. The computers will be placed in the business lab and at other work stations throughout the district.
Discussed specifications for new school buses. The board plans to take action to purchase either one or two school buses at its June 11 meeting.
Discussed, but took no action, in regard to the timeline and budget projections for referendum projects. The board talked about specific projects to be done over the next three years in order to determine how much money is needed. The referendum, passed earlier this year by district residents, calls for the district to purchase new vehicles, replace heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units in 13 classrooms, repair HVAC equipment in the shop area and begin repairs to the roof. The district plans to repair the roofs over the gymnasium, the middle school and part of the kindergarten section.
