JANESVILLE - A 66-year-old Monticello man was killed in a one-car accident Wednesday night near Albany.

William A. Dingeldine, 66, is originally from Waukesha and worked in that area as a truck driver until moving to Monticello, according to his obituary. He is survived by his daughter, four grandchildren and four siblings.

The accident happened shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday on Wisconsin 104 just north of Atkinson Road in Rock County, according to the Rock County Sheriff's Office.

A reconstruction of the accident by the sheriff's office found that Dingeldine was driving northbound in a gray Chevrolet Malibu when he crossed the centerline into the southbound lane, swerved back into the northbound lane, then overcorrected and lost control of the car.

The car went into the ditch on the east side of the road, crashed into a limestone wall and spun clockwise, then continued northbound, coming to a rest on its passenger side in the ditch.

Dingeldine was not wearing a seatbelt, and the impact of the crash ejected him from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Medical Examiner's Office.

He was the car's only occupant. No other injuries related to the accident were reported.

The Green County Highway Department set up a detour route and helped reroute traffic around the accident for about four hours, until after midnight.

An Albany police officer, a Green County Sheriff's deputy and Brodhead Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
