MONROE — The School District of Monroe proudly announced on Sept. 23 that Abraham Lincoln Elementary has been honored with the prestigious National Blue Ribbon School Award for 2024. The elementary school is being honored in the Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing School category. The recognition highlights the school’s exceptional commitment to academic excellence and its significant strides in improving the academic performance among students in specific subgroups over the past three years.

Abraham Lincoln was one of only eight Wisconsin schools that were nominated, and it was one of the schools selected to receive the significant distinction, reflecting the outstanding efforts of the entire school community.

Principal Sarah Judd’s leadership has been instrumental in fostering a culture of success, the school district wrote in a press release Monday afternoon.

“This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our incredible staff, students, and families,” Judd said. “We believe that every child deserves an equal opportunity to succeed, and our team has worked tirelessly to ensure that we provide a supportive and enriching environment for all.”

Abraham Lincoln Elementary has implemented innovative teaching strategies, specific systems, and inclusive programs that cater to the diverse needs of its students. The school’s commitment to professional development has empowered educators to continuously improve their practices, leading to remarkable progress in student outcomes.

“The School District of Monroe couldn’t be more proud of this achievement,” Superintendent Rodney Figueroa said. “The work done by the Abraham Lincoln team is truly impressive, and it serves as an exemplar of the continuous improvement efforts across the District.”

Figueroa also said it is important to acknowledge “not only the amazing leadership of Ms. Judd, but also the contributions from Jenna Trame, former Abraham Lincoln Principal, and the many staff members that have previously served in this great school.”

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, established by the U.S. Department of Education, honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools that demonstrate exemplary performance and commitment to student achievement. The award not only acknowledges the school’s success but also serves as an inspiration for other institutions striving to achieve similar outcomes.
