JUDA - A Monroe woman was killed in a fatal two-vehicle crash in Sylvester Township on Wednesday afternoon.

Elena Kauffman, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at 2:06 p.m. on Wisconsin 11/81, about .1 mile west of Hartwig Road.

According to the Green County Sheriff's Office, Kauffman was westbound in her 2013 Honda Fit when it was struck by an eastbound 2006 Mitsubishi truck, operated by Jeffery Knutson, 52, Janesville. The truck crossed the center line and struck Kauffman's vehicle.

Knutson was transported to the Monroe Clinic Hospital for minor injuries. Knutson was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and it is unknown if the truck was equipped with an airbag. Kauffman was wearing a seatbelt and her car's airbag deployed. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The Juda Fire Department, Monroe EMS, Green County Sheriff's Office and Wisconsin State Patrol also responded to the scene.
