Monroe teen Med Flighted after accident

MONROE - A 13-year-old was taken by Med Flight to UW Hospital in Madison Monday night following a two-car accident involving another 13-year-old behind the wheel.

Drury J. Niebuhr, 13, Monroe, was transported with life-threatening injuries by Med Flight as a result of the accident on County B at Bethel Road in the Town of Clarno at about 5:15 p.m.

Four other people, including the teen driver, had non-life threatening injuries and were transported by EMS personnel to the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Condition reports on the accident victims were not available.

The Green County Sheriff's Department reported Kaitlin M. Whiteaker, 13, Monroe, was driving a southbound vehicle on Bethel Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign at County B.

Whiteaker's vehicle collided with an eastbound truck driven by Teresa L. Jackson, 37, Monroe. Jackson's truck then struck a house owned by Dennis P. Jordan, 53, rural Monroe, at the corner of County B and Bethel Road. Jordan was home at the time but was not injured.

Both airbags in Whiteaker's vehicle deployed and seatbelts were used. The vehicle received severe damage and was towed from the scene.

Passengers in Jackson's vehicle were Devin A. Buol, 16, Monroe, and Hannah Buol, 14, Monroe. The three in Jackson's vehicle were wearing seatbelts. The truck received severe damage and was towed from the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

Monroe Fire Department, Green County EMS, Argyle EMS, Lena EMS, UW Med Flight and Wis. State Patrol also responded to the accident.
