MONROE - In a meeting Thursday, the City of Monroe Senior Center Board:

• Voted unanimously not to increase Wellness Center fees for 2009. The board will review fees in June. A discussion to increase fees centered on the need for the Behring Senior Center to pay for the health care benefits for the Wellness Specialist. As a city employee, the specialist is allowed to take the city health care plan benefits. That amounts to about $17,000 for the Wellness Center Specialist.

• Reviewed and approved the 2009 Senior Center budget.

• Was updated on the city council approval of hiring Bridget McGinty as the new Wellness Center specialist, beginning Dec. 1 at an six-month probationary hourly rate of $14.72. The rate will be $15.22 after the probation period.
