MONROE - Monroe High School officials said Sunday night they were working with Monroe police regarding an email message threatening to blow up the high school.
The email message was sent Sunday evening to MHS students and staff, according to a districtwide alert sent by Superintendent Cory Hirsbrunner shortly after 9 p.m.
The original email was sent from what appears to be the school email of a student in the district. The email indicates it was sent to two email groups: "MHS teachers" and "MHS 2016."
The short email indicates the sender wants to blow up the school and is "bringing a surprise to school" on Thursday.
Hirsbrunner said the district was working with "the Monroe Police Department, the family and other community resources and will inform famililies as the district learns more information."
