MONROE - At a meeting Monday, Sept. 8, the Monroe school board:

• Opted to go with American Financial Network working in partnership with Woodford State Bank as the district's copier lease provider. American Financial Network offered a monthly cost of about $3,390, plus a one-time escrow fee of almost $400, for a total cost of about $190,000 for equipment, including 24 new copier machines, 11 new printers and administrative software from Rhyme. Ron Olson, the district's business manager, recommended the board choose either American Capital, which offered a slightly cheaper monthly cost and no escrow fee, or American Financial, which would have a local connection. Bob Erb abstained from the vote due to financial interest in Woodford State Bank.

• Accepted the resignation of George Engles, Monroe Middle School custodian.

• Renewed the public library tax exemption resolution.

• Accepted donations of school supplies from the Monroe Noon Optimists and Walmart.

• Approved the requests of six students to attend other districts and the requests of eight students to attend the Monroe school district.

Scott Schmidt was absent.
