Board implements new evaluation
process for district administrator
MONROE - The Monroe school board Monday discussed a new district administrator evaluation process.
Bob Erb, Monroe school board president, said the new evaluation process will begin in July with Monroe District Administrator Rick Waski.
The board will have an informal evaluation with Waski in March. Every July, the administrator will meet with the board to establish at least three goals for the coming school year. The following November, the board and administration will conduct a formal discussion in closed session on the progress of the goals.
Four months later in March, the board and district administrator will then jointly plan to review the administrator's job description to make sure it reflects the board's expectations. Around the same time, the board will review the administrator's performance and prepare a written evaluation of the administrator's performance. Each board member will complete a written evaluation that will be shared with the administrator at a closed-session meeting in March.
"We want to create a dialogue," Erb said.
In other action, the board:
♦ Approved the retirement of Tony Stagliano, a seventh-grade English teacher at Monroe Middle School.
♦ Approved the support staff resignation of John Burdick, a custodian at Monroe Middle School.
♦ Discussed 20 proposed goals that were generated from several value statements the district came up with through a community forum. The board will continue to discuss the goals in a meeting Feb. 26. Waski said the aim is to have final goals for the district approved in March.
