Monroe School Board: Monday, Dec. 14, 2015

MONROE - At a meeting Dec. 14, the Monroe school board:

• Recognized Samantha Kubly, Parkside Elementary health assistant, for winning the December Monroe Lamp of Learning Staff Excellence Award.

• Accepted the resignation of Brenda Seagreaves, a third-grade teacher at Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy.

• Hired a new support staff member: Jamie Taylor, Northside Elementary special education assistant.

• Watched a presentation by the MHS Tech Squad. The squad, created to deal with IT needs related to the high school's Chromebooks, gave the presentation at this year's SLATE Convention. SLATE stands for School Leaders Advancing Technology in Education.

• Accepted a donation of furniture valued at $850 from Monroe Furniture for Monroe High School PBIS.

• Gave initial approval of 22 policy reviews, revisions, additions and deletions, including the replacement of a volunteer coordinator position at the Monroe Public Library with a new position for a marketing and programming librarian.

• Terminated one student's open enrollment due to truancy.

Scott Schmidt, the board's vice president, was absent.
