On Monday, March 9, the Monroe school board:• Accepted a $700 donation from the Monroe Optimist Club for the Monroe Middle School Forensics Club. It also accepted a donation of $5,000 from the Monroe Optimist Club, Monroe Lion's Club, Swiss Colony, Woodford Bank and Monroe Clinic for the Monroe High School scoreboard.• Accepted the retirement of Lee Binkley, fifth-grade teacher at Northside Elementary School. • Approved the MHS Choir traveling to New York City to perform with composer and choral conductor John Rutter at Carnegie Hall next spring.
