MONROE - At a meeting June 22, the Monroe school board:

• Approved the retirement of William Sanderson, Monroe High School custodian.

• Hired instructional staff members: Amanda Nemec, Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy fifth grade, and Janine Brown, MHS instrumental music.

• Accepted donations: $500 from Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin for Monroe Middle School special education field trip; free use of straight truck from Monroe Truck Equipment for summer school; $2,000 from David Kopf for MMS Washington D.C. trip scholarships; and $2,500 from Jacob's S.W.A.G. for district character development and anti-bullying programs.

• Approved the replacement of the MMS fitness room roof by Schrenk Brothers Roofing for $18,245 to be paid from the long-term maintenance budget, where it was already accounted for.

Board member Bob Erb was absent.



At closed-session meetings on May 28, the school board held two expulsion hearings. Board member Dan Bartholf was absent.
