MONROE - In a meeting Monday, the Monroe school board:

• Approved a two-year contract to continue the girls' swimming cooperative with New Glarus High School for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years. The district is currently in the second year of the co-op. Board treasurer Brian Keith abstained from the vote.

• Drew names to determine the order school board candidates would appear on the ballot for the April election. There are three open seats for the Monroe school board and three candidates, two of whom are incumbents. Scott Schmidt, the board's vice president, will be stepping down. The candidates will appear on the ballot in the following order: Dan Bartholf (incumbent), Rich Deprez and Les Bieneman (incumbent).

• Hired a new instructional staff member, Rachel Losselyong, Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy third-grade teacher.

• Accepted donations: $100 from Green County Retired Educators for the Monroe Middle School Choral Club; $300 from Colony Brands for the MMS Choral Club; $200 from Margaret Haldiman Bequest for the Monroe High School FFA Scholarship Fund; and $2,500 from an anonymous donor for Gifted and Talented Scholarships.

• Gave final approval of 22 policy reviews, revisions, additions and deletions.

• Approved the request of a student to leave the district.

• Went into closed session to discuss personnel issues.

Schmidt was absent.
