Heard an update on the athletic department at Monroe High School. Athletic Director David Hirsbrunner spoke about the athletic handbook, which he plans to look at over the summer for possible improvements, and the hockey team, which has low participation with 11 students. Hirsbrunner also brought up the Monroe logo, saying he'd like to see something to go along with it much like Wisconsin has both the "W" logo and Bucky Badger.
Recognized Monroe Lamp of Learning Staff Excellence Award winners Liz Dagel, fourth-grade teacher at Parkside Elementary, for December and Jessica Lervik Marquette, school psychologist at Northside Elementary, for November.
Accepted donations: $950 from Culver's of Monroe for MHS FFA; $200 from Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority for Race to Read; and five salad bars worth $14,125 from Roundy's Supermarket, won through a grant. The salad bars are expected to arrive within four to six weeks.
