MONROE — On March 11, the Monroe School Board:

●   Recognized Bodie Minder for his fourth-place finish at the WIAA State Wrestling tournament and the recipients of the Lamp of Learning awards.

●   Heard an update from District Administrator Rick Waski regarding the progress on completing goals established during the last school year. He said most categories were satisfactory and will provide another report in April. 

●   Accepted a $1,000 donation from Foreign Type Cheesemakers Association to Monroe High School FFA and $590,000 from Colony Brands Foundation to the district Elementary Spanish Program.

●   Heard an update from Waski in which he explained that year-round staff and administration is required to use leave time if they miss a day due to inclement weather. 

●   Authorized a five year contract with Reinhart Foodservice LLC to begin as prime food service vendor for the 2019-20 school year. 

●   Recognized MHS teacher Ryan Strunz for organizing mock interviews for his students and Madison Markham, a student, for her singing of the national anthem at basketball games.

●   Heard congratulatory appreciation from Business Administrator Ron Olson, who recognized MHS Principal Chris Mendenwaldt, Assistant Principal Jeriamy Jackson and Lamers Bus Company for coordination for basketball tournament and organizing staff.

●   Approved a WIAA application for a girl hockey cooperative.

●   Finalized the recommended appointments of Cathy Goray and Mary Jane Grenzow to the Public Library Board of Trustees.

●   Held closed session discussion for roughly 50 minutes to talk about the district administrator evaluation.

●   Approved comprehensive policy as outlined by NEOLA, voting 8 to 1 in favor of progressing volume 1 to its second reading before official adoption. Volume 1 includes bylaws, administration, programs, finances and relations. Member Cheryl McGuire voted against the policy as written after opposition to a change regarding purchases requiring price quotes that jumped the requirement from $10,000 to $25,000.
