Monroe residents, Main Street earn WEDC honors

WAUSAU - Monroe residents and the Main Street organization picked up several honors when the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation recognized the best downtown revitalization projects of 2012-13 at the 23rd annual Wisconsin Main Street Awards on Friday, Oct. 25 at the Jefferson Street Inn.

Main Street Monroe and FACE Properties, LLC, Monroe, were co-winners of the Best Facade Rehabilitation Over $7,500 for property located at 1005 16th St.

Tracy Hamilton, Monroe, received the 2012-13 Main Street Volunteer of the Year award.

JoAnne Luenberger, Monroe, received the 2012-13 Main Street Honorary Board of Directors.

Main Street Monroe also received honorable mention for Best Downtown Special Event for the Pirates on the Square.

Wisconsin Main Street is a community development program through WEDC, targeting Wisconsin's historic commercial districts. Wisconsin has 35 Main Street communities.
