Monroe receives three conference selections

MONROE - Three Monroe girls soccer players received all-conference honors from the Badger South conference.

Freshman Maddie Kallgren was named to the second team, while juniors Gabby Ludwig and Allison Coplien were named honorable mention.

The Cheesemakers had an injury-riddled season and finished the year with a record of 1-9-2. Monroe lost in the first round of the WIAA playoffs to Madison Edgewood.



Capitol

BELLEVILLE - With the Sugar girls soccer team's amazing sectional run came some big honors for several players.

Sugar River had eight receive Capitol All-Conference accolades. Sugar River junior Sierra Watrud was named first-team all-conference as a forward, senior Karly Anderson was named first-team all-conference as a midfielder, and senior Kaitlin Jennrich was named first-team as a defender.

Lodi's Taylor Baker was named the conference's player of the year.

Sugar River sophomore Jamie Ott was named second team all-conference as a forward, freshman Nicole Sanders was second team as a midfielder, and senior Riley Rung was named second team all-conference as a defender.

Sugar River senior Shelby Hubbard was named honorable mention all-conference as a midfielder and junior Christina Funseth was named honorable mention as a defender.

Sugar River finished the season 15-3-4 and lost a shootout to Mount Horeb 3-2 in a WIAA Division 2 sectional semifinal Thursday, June 6. The Raiders had 15 shutouts and took second place in the Capitol Conference (6-1-1) behind Lodi (8-0).
