MONROE - On Tuesday, Oct. 8, the Monroe Plan Commission:
Approved a request for a change in zoning for Erick and Summer Wells. The Wells requested one of their lots at 419 21st St. be changed from M-1 (light industrial) to R-2 (medium density residential) to match the lot on which their house sits. The City Council will set a public hearing date before voting on the commission's recommendation.
Approved a motion to change the zoning of lots 2354.1600 and 2354.1610, the Smart Station and USDA building on Fourth Avenue West, from M-3 (industrial park) to B-2 (general business), to give the council enough time to approve the change and allow building inspector Dave Powers to issue an upcoming building permit.
Postponed discussion of rezoning remaining property along Fourth Avenue West until January. Commissioner Nate Klassy made the motion.
"Rather than just go down and change them all, I'd like to take a look at them a little more closely," Klassy said after the meeting. Klassy said some businesses that will be effected by the change are of a mixed character, for example, of manufacturing with wholesale.
Postponed a discussion involving plans for and sale of one acre of land to Joel Potts, and a review of a certified survey map related to the sale of land in the Monroe Business and Industrial Park. Director of Public Works Kelly Finkenbinder said the required paperwork had not yet been submitted.
