MONROE - During a meeting Wednesday, the City of Monroe Plan Commission:
Discussed and recommended to Council for public hearing and adoption a special ordinance NO. 139 rezoning property to a planned unit development (PUD) district and adopting a general development plan and specific implementation plan for phase I and phase II of an Angelus Retirement Community PUD, along 8th Avenue near 6th Street.
A conditional use permit for a home-based salon at 311 6th Street was stricken from the agenda.
Discussed and approved a conditional use permit to allow an accessory building at 1311 13th Ave.
Discussed a proposed green waste recycle project.
Reviewed and recommended to council to approve a certified survey map for the Marketplace development near Monroe Truck Equipment on 6th Avenue West.
Discussed Northeast Park Condominiums PUD application and planned to meet Apr. 15 to review the PUD documents, maps and plans.
Discussed and voted unanimously to rezone a property, Monroe Village Apartments, along 4th Avenue West, from M-1 (light industrial) to R-3 (multi-family residential). A lack of a buffer between the apartments and a neighboring storage facility keeps the property in non-compliance according to city code, but the commission determined the rezoning puts it in a better position to be rebuilt, if needed.
Commission members William Bethke and Keith Ingwell were absent.
