MONROE - A 36-year-old Monroe man is scheduled to enter a plea Feb. 11 to charges of sexually assaulting a woman at a residence in Monroe.

Ryan E. Leistiko chose to waive his right to a preliminary hearing in Green County Circuit Court on Tuesday, during which prosecuting attorney Katherine Findley would have had to present evidence and witnesses to determine if a crime occurred.

Leistiko is charged with misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, disorderly conduct and a felony count of false imprisonment stemming from an incident that occurred on Dec. 28. Wisconsin law defines fourth-degree sexual assault as non-consensual touching or sexual contact with a victim and is a misdemeanor offense.

Court records indicate Leistiko had been stalking the woman and groped her on the date of the assault in an attempt to initiate sexual contact. The victim allegedly shoved Leistiko off of her after he attempted to hold her down and then Leistiko locked her in a bathroom.

Leistiko remains free on a signature bond with conditions that he have no contact with the victim or her residence.
