TOWN OF MONTROSE - A 41-year-old Monroe man was pronounced dead at the scene of a motorcycle vs. car crash in Dane County at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Kevin L. Nelson, the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office said in a news release Thursday.
He was driving his 2008 Kawasaki ZX600P motorcycle at a high rate of speed southbound on Wisconsin 69 just north of Henry Road in the Town of Montrose when the crash happened, according to a news release from the Dane County Sheriff's Department.
He lost control, crossed the center line and hit a northbound 2014 Kia Sorento head-on.
He was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Medical Examiner's Office, Lt. Brian Mikula said in the sheriff's department release.
The driver of the Kia, a 36-year-old Mazomanie woman, sustained minor injuries and Belleville EMS transported her to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.
Belleville Fire and EMS assisted deputies at the crash scene.
Officials said Thursday that the death and crash remain under investigation.
