MONROE - A Monroe man waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Monday on charges of sexually assaulting an underage girl.

Devan J. Mueller, 34, faces a Class C felony count of repeated sexual assault of a child and a related Class C felony in Green County Circuit Court.

Mueller was charged in December after the girl told representatives of the Green County Child Advocacy Center that Mueller had groped her repeatedly between 2013 and 2015.

Green County Assistant District Attorney Laura Kohl recommended Mueller sign a $5,000 signature bond with conditions that he have no contact with the victim under any circumstances, or any girl under 18 without an accompanying adult over the age of 25. Green County Circuit Judge James Beer agreed and imposed the bond.

Mueller faces a maximum possible sentence of 50 years in prison.
