MONROE - A driver involved in a serious traffic collision with a semi-truck on Oct. 4 died Saturday from injuries sustained in the accident.

Norman E. Howe, 85, Monroe, was involved in a collision in the W1100 block of Wisconsin 11, Town of Spring Grove, according to a report from the Green County Sheriff.

According to the report, the collision occurred after Howe attempted to pull out of the Brodhead Veterinary Clinic's parking lot onto Wis. 11, but pulled into the path of a semi-truck in the process. The truck was unable to swerve out of the way in time and struck Howe's vehicle.

The resulting crash closed the westbound lane of Wis. 11 for approximately two hours.

While the truck driver, Michael A. Huff, 40, Sharon, was uninjured, both Norman Howe and his passenger, Joan E. Howe, 77, Monroe, sustained injuries and were transported to the Monroe Clinic emergency room. Joan Howe's injuries were reportedly minor compared to Norman Howe's.

Howe's death makes the collision Green County's fifth traffic fatality this year.
