MONROE - A 36-year-old Monroe man was charged with felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct Tuesday in Green County Circuit Court.

Ryan E. Leistiko, arrested Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at a residence in Monroe, had a signature bond set at $10,000 with additional conditions that he have no contact with the alleged victim or have any contact at a residence in Monroe.

Chief of Police Fred Kelley said there was at least one witness to the alleged sexual assault that occurred Monday afternoon.

Wisconsin law defines fourth-degree sexual assault as non-consensual touching or sexual contact with a victim and is a misdemeanor offense. The original 911 call was for a domestic disturbance, and officers only found out about the alleged sexual assault after interviewing the witness, victim and Leistiko.

"The way it looks here is that he was trying to do more and it never came to fruition," Kelley said of the alleged assault.

Kelley said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be involved in the alleged assault. Leistiko has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Feb. 3.
