MONROE - A 26-year-old Monroe man had a not-guilty plea entered on his behalf Monday for charges of sexually assaulting a young woman in Monroe.

Derek J. Larosh appeared in custody at Green County Circuit Court Monday and had a pretrial conference set for Oct. 21. Larosh is charged with one count of second-degree sexual assault of an unconscious victim, one count of second-degree sexual assault with the use of force, and four counts of misdemeanor bail jumping. If convicted for the maximum penalty he could face up to 83 years imprisonment or $240,000 in fines or both. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on July 27.

Court records indicate that Larosh sexually assaulted a young woman while she was "blacked-out" due to intoxication. The victim was celebrating her 21st birthday. Larosh met the victim for the first time at a bar. The victim and her step-cousin left the bar around 12 a.m. to Larosh's home to wait for a ride. The victim's cousin could not arrange a ride so she asked Larosh if the victim could stay the night at his house and then the cousin left. The victim alleged that Larosh was going to sleep on the couch and offered her his bed.

The victim told police the next day that she did not remember leaving the bar, but she remembered going up a set of stairs in Larosh's parents' home. The victim alleged she came-to sometime in the middle of the night and Larosh was on top of her, sexually assaulting her. She started to scream and cry and Larosh allegedly placed his hand over her mouth and said "Shh." The victim then lost consciousness again.

The victim found Larosh on Facebook the next day and messaged him questioning why he assaulted her. While being interviewed by police, a photo array of several men was put in front of her and the victim immediately identified Larosh's picture.

Police executed a search warrant on Larosh's parents' home on July 29 and seized the sheets and comforter in Larosh's room. The victim drew a diagram of his room, and the reporting officer wrote in the report the bedroom was "situated very similar to the diagram." Larosh's parents told police they were asleep when he came home. His father said he may have remembered him bringing someone home, but he never saw anyone besides Larosh leave the bedroom. Larosh was brought in for an interview the next day and was subsequently arrested. He alleged that there was consent and the young woman initiated contact.

He told police the day after the incident he jostled the victim awake and that, "she was like, she didn't remember anything," he said.

The case will be bound over for trial during which time Larosh will stay in custody at the Green County Jail. A $1,000 cash bond paid by his father will be returned.
