MONROE - In a meeting last night, the Monroe Main Street Design Committee:
Heard an update on the design contest for new banners downtown. Twenty winners were selected out of 46 submissions. The winning banner designs are being printed at Canton Promotions and could be ready for display May 1.
Discussed where the signage ordinance is in the process of being approved. The ordinance will have to go through a public hearing before the City Council can vote on it.
Discussed the best possible locations for new bike racks.
Reviewed subcommittees' members' work for 2008.
Discussed designating a route out of downtown for bikers on 10th Street, and considered whether the city could make street parking on one side.
Discussed the types of signs that would be needed to direct bikers out on 10th Street and into downtown from Twining Park.
Heard from Director Barb Nelson, inviting members to the Wisconsin Main Street Program Annual Awards dinner May 22.
