MONROE - The Monroe School Board voted unanimously to accept the resignation of Monroe High School Principal Rick Waski Monday night.

Waski resigned since he was hired as the new district administrator in the Adams Friendship School District.

"I have always aspired to lead a district as an administrator or superintendent," Waski said.

Waski will continue to serve as principal at the high school through June 30. He starts in the Adams Friendship District on July 1. Waski served as principal at Marshall High School for three years before coming to Monroe.

"The administration and board here has been great," Waski said. "It certainly was tough to leave. The last three years has been a rewarding experience. I think my colleagues have prepared me for this challenge."

Last year, the district went through an administrative shuffling. Cory Hirsbrunner became superintendent after Larry Brown resigned to take the same position in Rice Lake. Dan Keyser came from Janesville to fill the director of curriculum and instruction post, and Sara Latimer was hired as the principal at Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy. Waski's wife, Andrea, grew up in Columbus. Even though she will be closer to family, Waski couldn't pass up on the job.

"This is a professional move for our family," he said.
