MONROE - In a meeting Monday, the City of Monroe Board of Public Works:

- Approved bills from Ramaker and Associates for $780 for professional engineering services for the pool boiler, circulation pumps and ventilation replacements; Fehr-Graham and Associates for $1,235 for testing ground water surrounding a storage tank leak; Town and County Engineering for $650 for Lake Drive inspection; and Veolia Environmental Services for $2,290 for December recycling.

- Authorized the purchase of a used replacement vehicle for the Park Department for $11,500.

- Authorized the purchase of a replacement vehicle for the Water department for $24,770.



MONROE - In a meeting Monday, the City of Monroe Public Safety Committee:

- Discussed the implementation of Project Childsafe Gunlock Program.

- Discussed overtime costs in the police department in 2012.



MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Finance and Taxation Committee:

- Discussed but postponed action regarding possibility of putting remaining funds from 2012 into a special account for the parking ramp.



MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Salary and Personnel Committee:

- Discussed the salaries of the mayor and aldermen, as compared to other municipalities, and how to contain an increasing number of required meetings. The discussion will resume Feb. 20.

- Met in closed session to discuss a negotiating strategy for a proposed employment agreement for executive legal services and technology coordinator services.



MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Judiciary and Ordinance Review Committee:

- Approved its final determination of an administrative appeal in the matter of Gene Rood, regarding meeting ADA requirements.



MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:

- Confirmed the mayoral re-appoint of Dan DeMuth to the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners for a five-year term to end Jan. 31, 2018.

- Heard an update report on Main Street Monroe from Amy Brandt, executive director.

- Approved unanimously an addendum to the taxi cab service agreement with Brown Cab Service, to increase its payment by 15 cents, to $23.29 per vehicle hour.

- Authorized unanimously a contribution to the Green County Historical Society, for $5,000 minus actual expenses from the 2012 budget.

- Voted unanimously to re-adopt a Length of Service Award Program for City of Monroe Fire Department. The retirement-type program has been in effect since 2002 for those in the department who are not eligible under the city's plan.

- Approved unanimously $497,000 to pay bills.

- Denied a claim of $5,775 from Faye Gordon, who alleges to have fallen into a hole on the 17th Avenue terrace.

- Adopted a fire inspection frequency schedule outlined in Wisconsin Administrative Code. The new code allows less frequent inspections of some businesses with good inspection histories, and will save the fire department an estimated $3,000 to $5,000 per year without affecting the insurance ratings.

- Granted miscellaneous licenses.

- Approved $11,200 to amend the lighting project, to include replacing ceilings in the council chamber and recreation department to accommodate new light fixtures.

- Approved unanimously a Memorandum of Understanding regarding reimbursement of expenses incurred during the establishment of the Southwest region Participating Revolving Loan Funds.

- Approved unanimously revisions to the City of Monroe Revolving Loan Program Manual, to coincide with the regional RLF manual.

- Met in closed session for a performance evaluation of the city administrator.

The next Common Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 20, to accommodate the state election primary on Feb. 19.
