MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Judiciary and Ordinance Review Committee:

• Took no action on changing aldermen elections from ward to at-large.

• Took no action on how aldermen are compensated.

MONROE - At a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Salary and Personnel Committee:

• Discussed a proposal for executive level city staff members to obtain some legal services and advice at a flat monthly rate of $5,900, and for the city to receive additional computer technology upgrade and design advice at no extra charge. The proposal includes health insurance benefits and a 3-year contract commitment. City Attorney Rex Ewald is to submit a specific contract at the next meeting, to be reviewed by the committee and an outside attorney. If accepted, the contract would begin after Jan. 1.

MONROE - The City of Monroe Finance and Taxation Committee meeting for Tuesday, Dec. 5, was canceled because of time constraints. The presentation of the 2011 audit has been rescheduled for Dec. 18.

MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:

• Approved the mayoral appointment of Mary Deininger to replace Walter Hougas on the Senior Citizens Board for term to end April 30, 2013.

• Voted 7-2 to approve a updated wage and classification scale for annual pay. Jan Lefevre and Tyler Schultz voted against.

• Vote unanimously to approve 2013 wages for election inspectors, non-salary fire department personnel, part-time recreation department employees and other part-time employees.

• Voted 6-3 to approve salaries and wages for department heads and non-union personnel for 2013. Lefevre, Schultz and Sara Conway voted against.

• Approved to pay bills totaling $231,590.

• Approved an amended special event permit for Main Street Lighted Christmas Parade and Event, on today, Dec. 7.

• Granting miscellaneous licenses.

• Voted unanimously to accept bids and awarded a contract to Precision Drive and Control in the sum of $82,300 for the city hall generator installation project.

• Voted unanimously to rescind approval for previous change orders on Lakeside Heights project contracts.

• Voted unanimously to approve a change order on Iverson Construction contract for Lakeside Heights Project, resulting in a $32,000 savings for the city.

• Voted unanimously to approve a change order on the consulting agreement with AECOM for revisions to the administration building in the wastewater treatment plant designs, resulting in an addition of $156,000.

• Voted 4-5 on a motion by Tyler Schultz, seconded by Charles Schuringa, for the Finance and Taxation Committee to revisit its Dec. 3 decision to consolidate banking accounts. Louis Armstrong, Reid Stangel, Tom Miller, Brooke Bauman and Michael Boyce voted against.
