On Tuesday, the Monroe Common Council:
• Set public hearings for the enactment of new city code and recreation of code regarding alcoholic beverages.
• Authorized the church service event Praise in the Park, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 14 in Lincoln Park, and the Monroe Bible Church Bible School picnic in Twining Park from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. that same day.
• Approved a resolution allowing building permits to be kept on file electronically.
• Renewed a permit for the possession of live chickens.
