In a meeting Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2010, the City of Monroe Common Council:

Voted for council packets of agenda and meeting information to be available for pickup at the city hall, rather than delivered by an officer of the police department.

Set a public hearing date of Oct. 19 for an ordinance on loitering.

Approve $454,000 to pay bills.

Authorized a no-parking zone in the 2000 Block of 10th Street.

Received the announcement that Cities & Villages Mutual Insurance Company awarded the City of Monroe a "Significant Program Award" for a system developed by Josse Allen, city safety officer. Allen developed a comprehensive incident reporting system that is used whenever there are such things as public property damage, an injury to a worker, or even near-misses. The incident reporting system will now be available through CVMIC for other member cities to use. The city will receive $1,000 to be used for safety, risk management or loss control. The Significant Program Awards is an annual program through CVMIC.

The next meeting of the Common Council will be Wednesday, Nov. 3. It was moved from its regular Tuesday schedule because of the election on Nov. 2.
