MONROE - On Tuesday, the Monroe Common Council:

• Agreed to maintain an 85 percent contribution to city employees for health insurance plans and to provide a $2,000 incentive payment to eligible individuals who choose not to utilize the city health care plans.

• Heard Barb Grabow highlight the benefits of Behring Senior Center, including fitness and educational classes, speakers and group trips.

• Approved the change of Class A fermented malt beverage and liquor license agent to Kenneth Schuur for Shop-Rite LLC or Pick 'n' Save.

• Listened to an update in Monroe Chamber of Commerce bylaws presented by Melissa Even, executive director, which outlined a 10-person board with members serving a maximum of two, three-year terms.

• Agreed to further discuss the possibility of other City Hall projects, including the idea of a new building, at the request of Alderman Tom Miller before plans are made to return to the building.

• Heard an announcement from Alderwoman Brooke Bauman, who said the Monroe Public Library will be having events each Friday in honor of Vietnam Veterans month beginning on Oct. 13.
