MONROE - At a meeting Tuesday, Nov. 15, the City of Monroe Salary and Personnel Committee:

- Postponed a decision on hiring a building inspector and zoning administrator, to await further information.

MONROE - At a meeting Tuesday, Nov. 15, the City of Monroe Public Property Committee:

- Postponed a recommendation to the council to conditionally approve the sale of real estate to Silverstone Partners, Inc., until new council members have an opportunity to review the project. Silverstone Partners, Inc. is expected to make a presentation on its senior apartments project in early December.

MONROE - At a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:

- Unanimously approved $663,000 to pay bills.

- Adopted the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 291 standards for fire flow testing and marking of hydrants.

- Approved Main Street Monroe's lighted Christmas parade and tree lighting ceremony for Dec. 2.

- Granted miscellaneous licenses.

- Voted 9-1 to adopt the Monroe Business Improvement District operating plan for 2012, which levies $32,500 for funding Main Street Monroe events and promotions.
