MONROE - In a meeting Monday, the City of Monroe Board of Public Works:

- Approved for payment bills from Fehr-Graham and Associates for $8,260 for monitoring soil contamination in the 700 block of 8th Street and from MSA for $97,500 for work on the 21st Street retention basin.

- Authorized the purchase of two signs for the westside fire station from Monroe Signs for $4,260.

- Accepted bids and authorized hiring Carousel Farms for $5,450 for stream bank restoration work on the city's west side.

MONROE - In a meeting Monday, the City of Monroe Public Safety Committee:

- Recommended for council approval the George Carden Circus on May 18 and American Legion Zilmer-Riley Post No. 84 Memorial Day parade and ceremony on May 28.
