MONROE - At a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Finance and Taxation Committee reviewed the 2009 budget audit report and met with Carol Knox, from the city's auditing firm. They determined that city employees were on par with the required training needed for auditing purposes.

MONROE - At a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:

- Approved the appointment of Luis Carus to the BID Board for a two-year term to end on Dec. 31, 2012.

- Approved $204,000 for paying bills.

- Authorized a no parking area in 1000 block of 21st Avenue.

- Approved detour routes, direction of traffic, no parking areas, and stop sign Installations for 8th/9th Street Project.
