MONROE - At Tuesday's Monroe Common Council meeting, the following resolutions were approved:

• Contingent upon passing a drug test and medical screening, Ruth Suthers is hired as a part-time (16 hours per week) reception desk assistant at the Behring Senior Center at a rate of $12.50 per hour starting Feb. 23.

• Upon recommendation of the Claims Committee, the claim of excessive assessment from Dave Deininger on behalf of Emilie's House LLC was denied.

• Mobile recreational vehicles (weighing 16,000 pounds or more) and semitrailers are not allowed to park on a city street, alley or public lot between midnight and 7 a.m. Exceptions are reasonable time for loading/unloading and emergency repairs.

• No paved or gravel surface shall be located closer than 4 feet from a side lot line or rear lot line and closer than 2 feet from a front lot line. Exception is a surface that is part of a driveway that is necessary to provide ingress and egress from an abutting street or alley, serves only as a pedestrian sidewalk or serves only as a drainage system for storm water.

• The no-parking zone on the north side of 5th Street that is east of 20th Avenue will be extended westward by an additional 64 feet.

• As part of the building code, minor repair or maintenance work on a home does not require a building permit if the project costs less than $1,000 and does not alter the occupancy, area, structural strength, fire protection, exits, lights, sanitation or ventilation of a building.
