Monroe aldermen called into special, closed session

MONROE - Monroe city officials are mum about the reason for a special closed session meeting of the Monroe City Council scheduled for Wednesday evening.

The council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at city hall behind closed doors to discuss "possible violations of city policies by employees." The council will not reconvene in open session.

City Attorney Rex Ewald forwarded the Times' request for comment to Mayor Ron Marsh, who said Monday he "could not provide any comment about the meeting whatsoever."

City Administrator Mark Vahlsing explained that city policies cover employment policies, "what they do and don't do."

Calling a full City Council meeting to discuss the issue "depends upon the situation," he said.

City Clerk Carol Stamm said she could not comment about the agenda item.
