MONROE - An inmate who did not return to the Green County jail after an appointment Thursday was arrested on a warrant Friday in Clinton, Iowa, said Lt. Kari Phillips of the Green County Sheriff's Department.

Paul A. Patterson, 45, Freeport, remains in police custody and will be transported back to Green County "at a later date," Phillips said.

Patterson had been serving time in the jail for two child support commitments, according to a news release.

On Friday, Patterson was charged in Green County Circuit Court with a Class H felony count of leaving the state to avoid apprehension. If convicted, he could face a six-year prison sentence, $10,000 in fines, or both.
