MONROE - Benita Miller, Monroe, was appointed to the Senior Center Board by Mayor Ron Marsh on Sept. 16. She replaces Lucille Gruetzman.
Miller moved to Monroe from North Carolina three years ago. She is retired after 40 years in various office work.
Miller said she accepted the position to "be more involved in the city of Monroe" and because she already spends so much time at the Behring Senior Center.
"You can go anywhere you want to," Miller said about getting involved in a community.
Miller exercises five days a week at the Wellness Center, volunteers at the front desk at the Behring Senior Center and gets involved with many projects there.
"I enjoy this place. It's a bonus for the city," she said.
