Military, families admitted free at Swiss village, museum

NEW GLARUS - During 2015 New Glarus' Swiss Historical Village and Museum is one of 45 sites in Wisconsin to offer free admission to military personnel and their families.

Blue Star Museums, a partnership of the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and more than 2,000 museums across America, will offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day this year. The complete list of participating museums and a map to help with planning is available at www.arts.gov/bluestarmuseums.

The free admission program is available to a military ID holder and five immediate family members. Active duty military include Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, active duty National Guard and active duty Reserve members.

This is the fifth year that the Swiss Historical Village and Museum has participated in the Blue Star Museum program. Owned and operated by the non-profit New Glarus Historical Society, the Swiss Historical Village and Museum, 612 7th Ave., is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week from May 1 through Oct. 15.
