ALBANY - Albany Middle School received a DPI $225,000 charter planning grant for the 2012-13 school year.
The grant will allow the district to implement a project-based learning middle school for its students.
As a charter initiative, Albany Middle School will be able to build valuable learning experiences designed to engage students as they develop solid academic skills. Moreover, students will implement projects that are intended to reflect the values, interests and needs of the Albany community while building the capacity to be global learners and leaders.
The charter planning grant will allows for professional development for faculty through conferences, in-services and specific training. New investments in technology, such as laptops, media production and science equipment, will be made. In addition, field study equipment, classroom furnishings and library materials are all part of the planning and implementation development.
Albany Middle School will be eligible to receive an additional implementation grant in 2013-14 for another $225,000.
