MHS Wind Ensemble to present matinee pops concert Jan. 31

MONROE - The Wind Ensemble of the Monroe High School Instrumental Music Department will present "An Afternoon At The Pops" at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, in the Performance Gym at the High School. The concert will feature music of stage and cinema, and cheesecake and beverages will be served during the intermission. The concert will be presented "cabaret" style, with table seating available on the gym floor. Admission is $5 for all seats, which includes the intermission treats.

The program will consist of selections from "Phantom Of The Opera," arranged by Warren Barker; "James Bond Suite," arranged by Frank Erickson; "Symphonic Suite From Star Trek," arranged by Jay Bocook; a suite from "Lord Of The Rings-Return Of The King," arranged by Victor Lopez; "Highlights From Ratatouille," arranged by John Moss; and "Titan Spirit" from "Remember The Titans," arranged by Jay Bocook.

Tickets will be available at the door on the day of the concert, or by calling the Monroe High School band office at 328-7314. Calls would be appreciated to help estimate the potential audience.
