MONROE - When Gabe Witt first heard about the possibility of winning a vehicle with Operation Click last fall at the Monroe High School assembly, he could only dream that he would be the winner of the vehicle from Ubersox Used Car Super Store in Monroe. On April 20 in Janesville, Witt found out his dream had come true.

Operation Click is a program that started out encouraging students to buckle up. It has evolved into a program that encourages staying in school, not texting, not drinking, driving safely, school behavior and so much more. It teaches responsibility not only for oneself, but for the passengers in their vehicle too. Students are monitored and rewarded for good behavior as part of the contract agreement they sign into.

Witt was one of nine finalists in the Green County area from a group of 463 students. When asked, what was the hardest part of the program, Witt responded, "Being responsible and promoting safe driving was the easy part, waiting the three days to see if I was the winner after being told I was a finalist was the hard part."

Danette Williams, the General Sales Manager of Ubersox Used Car Super Store commented that when she first was approached by Operation Click to be a sponsor, she wasn't sure. The more she heard about the program and how it is designed to help reduce teen fatalities and injuries from motor vehicle crashes by developing safe driving habits, the more her team felt this was a community event they wanted to be a part of.

"It's a program that relies on students to encourage better driving habits amongst their friends. It's a program that the whole community can benefit from. After the recent tragic loss of three teenagers from our community, we are proud to be part of something that will help educate teens and hopefully make them safer behind the wheel."

As for Witt, he loved this program so much that he looks forward to starting an Operation Click committee at the Monroe High School next year.
