Meth lab suspect turns himself in to police

DARLINGTON - A Gratiot man wanted in connection to an investigation of a methamphetamine lab turned himself in at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department.

Jeremy W. Herbst, 38, has been tentatively charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, according to Lafayette County Sheriff Scott Pedley.

He remains jailed pending his initial appearance in Lafayette County Circuit Court.

Herbst's wife, Bobette Herbst, 39, also remains jailed on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine.

Lafayette County Sheriff's Deputies, along the with Monroe Police Department's Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a Gratiot residence at about 6 p.m. Wednesday.

No one was home at the time of the search.

Pedley said the deputies found a "sizable methamphetamine lab" inside the house.

Bobette Herbst was arrested at about 8 p.m. Wednesday at a Wiota residence.

Lafayette County Sheriff's Department detectives are continuing its investigation, and additional charges could be filed.
