MONROE — Two men are charged in connection to a marijuana-growing operation at their shared home south of Juda, according to Green County Circuit Court records.

Glen Leroy Martin, 55, and James Kurt Scheidegger, 60, were charged following a Jan. 5 search of the residence located in the N500 block of Union Road, Town of Spring Grove.

Scheidegger faces a Class G felony charge of manufacturing or delivering THC, a Class H felony charge of possession of THC with intent to distribute and a Class I felony charge of maintaining a drug-trafficking place. Martin is charged with a Class G felony charge of manufacturing or delivering THC as a party to a crime and as a second or subsequent offense. Both also face a misdemeanor charge of possessing drug paraphernalia.

According to the criminal complaints, filed Feb. 5:

Martin “came to the sheriff’s office on Jan. 5 to report a marijuana grow operation that is ongoing” at the residence. He said he lived there with Scheidegger off and on, and Scheidegger has lived there about 10 years.

Martin told deputies he recently moved out “because he is sick of the environment” at the residence and that Scheidegger “belittles him.”

A search warrant executed later that day found 27 living cannabis plants and associated paraphernalia inside the residence.

Scheidegger told deputies he was using the marijuana to help him with medical conditions. The criminal complaint acknowledges Scheidegger has “a significant medical history that (is) very active.”

State court records show no criminal history for Scheidegger in Wisconsin, besides an alcohol-related, second-offense conviction of operating while intoxicated from 2002. His initial appearance in court is March 4.

Martin has a criminal history going back about 30 years in Wisconsin, including convictions of marijuana possession and a forgery case that resulted in a four-year prison sentence in 1995.

A warrant was issued for Martin’s arrest in the latest case. He was arrested on the warrant after coming into the Green County Sheriff’s Office to speak with a deputy on Feb. 19.

While booking him into the jail, deputies found THC and drug paraphernalia on Martin and subsequently referred him for those charges as well, according to a release from the sheriff’s office. Martin was jailed pending court.
