MONROE - A 27-year-old Monroe man, Jeremy A. Kainz, was discovered dead in a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am two-door early Friday, May 17, after authorities say he crashed the car in Jordan Township.
Alcohol and speeding appear to be contributing factors in the crash, according to Green County Sheriff Jeff Skatrud. This is Green County's second traffic fatality of 2013.
A resident in the area discovered the crashed car on its top on Skinner Hollow Road about four-fifths of a mile north of Rothenbuehler Road and reported it at 6:22 a.m.
"It appears that the crash occurred late last night or very early this morning," Skatrud said. When deputies arrived, deputies found that Kainz, the lone occupant, was already deceased and Coroner Kris Hasse was called to the scene.
Initial investigation indicates Kainz was northbound on Skinner Hollow Road when he lost control on a curve and the Grand Am left the road, overturned and came to a rest on its top. He wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
