MONROE - Two people were forced at gunpoint to relinquish their wallets and cellphones Thursday night at Recreation Park in Monroe.
According to a Monroe Police Department news release, police were dispatched at 11:28 p.m. to the park. The victims told the police a man had produced a small caliber handgun and demanded the victims' belongings. The man was described as a young, light-skinned African American man with short hair. The victims told police the incident occurred sometime between 10 and 10:30 p.m. The suspect left the scene on foot heading north out of the park.
