MONTICELLO - A Milton man who was last seen Wednesday afternoon in Monticello is missing, and his family is seeking help locating him.
Allen Brown, 80, was last seen in Monticello at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Connie Brown, his daughter, said he had driven there to meet a friend. He shared lunch and a game of pool with the friend at a local tavern, then left to return home but never arrived.
When Allen Brown failed to return home by 2:30 p.m., his wife contacted the friend to verify her husband had arrived in Monticello. By 3 p.m., she contacted law enforcement but was told that technically, a person must be gone 48 hours to be considered missing.
Connie Brown said her father has never disappeared before and not coming home is "totally out of character." He has some mobility problems, but does not suffer from dementia or other known health issues. Recent subzero temperatures and dangerous wind chills are adding to their concerns.
She said his vehicle is a 2013 white Ford Explorer with Wisconsin vanity plates that read 60YEARS. The plates are a reference to her parents' 60th wedding anniversary, celebrated in October.
He was last seen wearing a brown animal-print fleece jacket.
Local police departments have been notified, and family and friends are currently out scouring the area.
Green County Sheriff Mark Rohloff said Thursday evening that Allen Brown had been entered into the database as a missing person and that deputies have been checking areas and streets between Monticello and Milton.
GPS technology may be located inside the vehicle, which could aid discovery, Rohloff said. He added that the car is conspicuous enough that "if it's moving in Green County, we'll be able to find it."
